I’ve won a golden owl today ! C’est chouette !

(I just did the calculation, and it took me 213 days to finish the game)

Is that Duolingo’s unsubtle way to tell me I’m studying German too hard ?

Davide Cironi driving the ALFA Romeo Alfetta GTV6 2.5 #porn #nsfw

Very nice but he is handling weirdly the steering wheel (after 02:08)…

The 9/3 o’clock hands position ? I think this is how kids learn how to drive nowaday.

I learned with the 10/2 hands position with the no crossed arms rule. We should conservatively stick to that.

I also learned to drive with the classic hands position on the steering wheel, but it’s not a bad idea to try to change it :

– mostly because it’s less dangerous since the generalization of airbags in cars (I think I didn’t have that decadent luxury until my tenth car, and it was there mostly to pick a half-star at safety tests, since over 50 kph, the engine has a natural tendancy to travel to the the rear end of the car in case of frontal accident)

– also because it’s more efficient, bio-mechanicaly speaking. It’s not an accident this position emerged from car racing technics.

So today is my 100th day of duolinguism. They should do like AA and give you a little medal that you can show to people so they can commiserate. But bar that, here’s my bragging screenshot. I’m still very much not fluent in German, but I can now communicate with the strange people from the other side of the Roestigraben, given they speak slowly, make effort to articulate, and use simple words. But I can already give a roasting to people doing stupid things, and German is a wonderful language to do that kind of things.

Tag der Bildung – Zrugg id Steiziit

Tomorrow is “Day of Education”, some kind of leftist demo asking for a bigger budget part for education (and will probably finish with people in black clothes trying to put fire at banks) if I understood correctly. To be fair, I have strictly no idea what this song is about. I may have caught maybe five German words in the whole song (and after one hour of research on the internet, the title could mean “Back to the Stone Age”, but for all I know, it could be something about eggs. Or foxes).

Anyway, I couldn’t resist the temptation to showcase how Züridütsch is a pretty, soft, free-flowing and elegant language. #roestigraben

I presume this is Soviet counterpart to Col. Cooper First Rule of Gun Safety – all guns are always loaded.
